Chandigarh, February 14, 2018: YMCA University of Science and Technology, Faridabad will organize a State Level Workshop on ‘Implementation of Model Curriculum prescribed by AICTE for various Engineering Programmes’ on February 15. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently released Model Curriculum for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree courses in Engineering & Technology and the workshop has been organized for the better understanding and effective implementation of Model Curriculum prescribed by AICTE.
While giving information in this regard, Dean (Institutions) Dr. Sandeep Grover today said that representatives from all the State Universities and affiliated Colleges have been invited to attend the workshop which will be inaugurated by Jyoti Arora, Principal Secretary, Technical Education, Haryana and presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar.
He said that Prof. Rajive Kumar, Advisor-I (P & AP) from AICTE, New Delhi has been invited as the keynote speaker who will apprise about effective implementation strategies of Model Curriculum in the Engineering Colleges. Different expert lecture on the implementation of Model Curriculum for Undergraduate & Postgraduate level will also be organized and issues related to implementation will be discussed during the workshop.
Prof. Grover said that curriculum for engineering and technical courses across the country have recently been revamped by AICTE to meet the demands of the industry. The new curriculum focuses more on the practical aspects by engaging students with laboratory assignments along with the theory. Under the revised curriculum, the number of credits required for the theory has been reduced and it has also been made mandatory for the students to intern in the industry for about two to three weeks during the summer vacation so as to enable them to acquire the skills required for jobs. The component of Mandatory Induction Programme and concept of virtual labs has also been introduced, he added.
