Chandigarh, October 07, 2017: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University’s Department of English organized an interdepartmental quiz competition here today. Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Emerging Technologies, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Jolly graced the occasion as the chief guest while Dean, Faculty of Languages and Head of the Department of English, Prof. Swaraj Raj presided over the competition.
The competition was won by the team of Damanpreet Kaur, Mohammad Yameen, Akshdeep Singh and Karandeep Singh. All four were the students of Department of Biotechnology of the University. While addressing the students from various departments of the University, Prof. Jolly said that the competitions like these are not only helpful in increasing the general awareness of the students but are also instrumental in building confidence and team spirit in them.
Prof. Swaraj Raj congratulated the victorious team and said that those who couldn’t win should not lose heart as competitions like these are organized with the sole purpose of increasing the knowledge of the students. He congratulated the teachers and the organizing team for successfully organizing this competition. While giving information about the competition, In-charge of the department of English, Ms. Ankdeep Kaur told that about 18 teams from various departments of the University had registered for the competition and after a preliminary qualifying round 5 teams were selected for the next round. She thanked the various head of the department of the University for sparing their valuable time and assured that the department will continue to organise such constructive activities in the future as well.
