Amritsar, May 18, 2023– In ancient India, women had an important role in society and received favourable treatment while in the current scenario, the women still have a long way to go to achieve equitable and just society, said Prof. (Dr.) Amar Pal Singh, Professor University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi while addressing in the ICSSR sponsored National Seminar on ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Contribution towards Women Empowerment’. This seminar was organized by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Chair of Guru Nanak Dev University jointly with Department of Laws of the University.
Prof. (Dr.) Kuldip Kaur, Director of the seminar welcomed all the delegates and participants. Prof. (Dr.) Shweta Shenoy, Professor and Head, MYAS Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine of the University presided over the inaugural session.
In her keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Anupama, Professor & Head, Department of Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala mentioned about women having high voting participation but less participation in the policy formulation. She emphasised on more participation of women as a step towards inclusive development. Co-director of the seminar, Prof. (Dr.) Pawan Kumar presented vote of thanks on this occasion.
