KHARAR,september20,2018 :: The panchyat samiti and zila Parishad elections in Kharar and Majri blocks of Kharar and Majri blocks of kharar Subdivision went peacefully on Wednesday .
Kharar SDM –cum-returning officer Vinod bansal said , a total of 57. 5 percent voters had exercised their franchise in the Kharar block, adding that 105 year- old Sandhu Singh was oldest to cast vote . he voted at booth number 76 in Kandala village Bansal said , polling remained peaceful in Kharar block
The ballot boxes are being kept at Goverment Polytechnce College, khunimajra ,where counting of votes will take place on September 22 . heavy security arrangements have been made at the College under the Supevision of Kharar DSP Deep Kamal .
Similarly, polling was held for the election of 16 members of panchayat samiti, majri .district revenue officer – cum returning officer Balwinderpal singh said about 65 percent voters exercised their right to franchies adding that voting was peaceful
Notably, there are 25 members of the kharar panchayat samiti. Voting was held for 24 seats as one member had been elected unopposed meanwhile, Mohali DC Gurpreet kaur Sapra visited the college and reviewed the security arrangments .
