JALANDHAR,APRIL 20 : Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar is carrying forward its legacy of Apeejay Stya Model United Nations in Northern India.
Addressing media persons here today Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College highlighting the events to be held said that Apeejay is organizing the second session of ASMUN from April,22 to 24, onthe campus in which over 500 students will role play as delegates and High Commissioners representing various Nations.
Detailing about the events as to how the ASMUN is different? Sucharita said ASMUN’ 17 is a significant event as it is being organized for the first time in Apeejay College in Collaboration with UNIC- United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and IGN-Indira Gandhi National Organization, which has been placed in the top 5 MUN organization among Asia. ASMUN has received Appreciation and Support from top most Indian Leaders like,Indian Natyional Congress (INC)President Sonia Gandhi,Former Prime Minister-Dr. Manmohan Singh, Sheila Dikshit Former Chief Minister, Delhi, Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member and Former Union Cabinet Minister Sharmistha Mukherjee-Daughter of President.
She said the top most Dignitaries of International Repute as our Keynote Speakers:
Mani Shankar Aiyer, Former Union Cabinet Minister Sandeep Dikshit, Former Member of Parliament Rana K.P. Singh, Speaker, PunjabVidhan Sabha,Lt. General Shergill, Chief Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab with rank of Cabinet Minister of Punjab Aditya Berlin, Co-Founder & Pro-Chancellor of the Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Member of the Management Board of the Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Founding Director of the Apeejay Stya Education Research Foundation.
Sucharita further said the initiative is to transform lives of various youngsters of the country to channelize their energy in the right direction.
The principal said 500 students will role play as delegates and High Commissioners, representing various nations to discuss and debate on issues which include advancing International Human Rights to protect against Discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Discussion on Illicit use of Medicinal Drugs, Post Impact of Demonetisation,Politicisation of Educational Institutions like JNU and Delhi University.
Special Committee Punjab Vidhan Sabha, in which students will be representing newly elected MLAs of Punjab and will discuss on:
ü Status of Dry Menace
ü Downfall of Agriculture in State
ü Reformation of Economic Policies etc.
Sucharita said Various Institutions from where students/delegates are participating in ASMUN’17 will be from National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Management-Delhi, AMITY IP Delhi,JIIT, Nodia,DPS BLR-Bangalore, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies-Dehradun,JINDAL School of International Affairs-Sonipat, St. Stephens, Delhi,Miranda House, Delhi,Barry JohnActing Studies, Mumbai,MITSUM, Pune,Faculty of Law, PunjabUniversity, Chandigarh,MCM DAV College, Chandigarh,SD College, Chandigarh,APJ Stya University, Gurugram,APJ School, SheikhSarai, New Delhi,APJ School, Saket and All Schools and Colleges of Jalandhar she concluded.Dr Gautem Seth and other organizers of the programe were also present.
