New Delhi, December 24, 2019: The Special Judge, CBI, cases Guwahati (Assam) has sentenced Shri Shajamal Haque, the then Branch Post Master (Gramin Dak Sewak), Salabila Bazar Branch Post Office, Goalpara Postal Division, Dhubri (Assam) to undergo four years Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs.45,000/- and Shri Kamaleshwar Das, the then Sub Post Master, Manikpur Sub Post Office, Goalpara Postal Division, Dhubri (Assam) to undergo one-year Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000/-.
CBI had registered a case on 07.06.2012 U/s. 120B, r/w 420, 468, 471 of IPC & Section 13(2) R/w 13(1) (d) of PC Act., against Md. Shajamal Haque, the then Branch Post Master, Salabila Bazar Branch Post Office and Shri Kamaleswar Das, then Sub Post Master, Manikpur Sub Post Office and others. It was alleged that Md. S. Haque, the then Branch Post Master and Shri K. Das, the then SPM, entered into criminal conspiracy during 01.08.2010 to 12.11.2011 with unknown persons and cheated the department of Posts to the tune of Rs. 18,22,126/- by preparing fake cheques intimation list, forging signature of Assistant Post Master (SB-II) and Rubber Stamp of Dhubri Head Post Office.
After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the accused in the Competent Court. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
