
Nawanshahr, April 13 (By SK.Vyas): To ensure the timely set up of proposed Government College at village Jadla in Nawanshahr Sub Division of SBS Nagar district, Special Secretary Higher Education M P Arora today visited the proposed site to speed up the land transfer process.
He also examined the possibility of the commencing of classes from coming session by visiting the various places for the temporary campus. He said that it would take a year to construct the new building but department to start the classes from the coming session by makeshift arrangements.
Arora said that state has approved five new colleges for the coming session at Nawanshahr, Ludhiana East, Kalanaur, Malot and Khadur Sahib.
He asked the SDM Nawanshahr Aditya Uppal to finalize temporary campus as early as possible to start the classes in the coming session. He also told him to complete the land-related formalities within stipulated period so that funds to be approved for the new building.
Gram Panchayat Jadla assured the officials to extend all possible help to start the classes in time. Expressing gratitude to the state government, particularly the fruitful efforts of local MLA Angad Singh, for setting up the proposed college in this rural belt, Panchayat members said that it was need of the hour to set up an institute for higher education, in this area that would cater to the hundreds of the youth especially girls to continue college education after completion of schooling.
Others amongst prominent, present on the occasion, included deputy director colleges from DPI Office, Dr. Gurdarshan Brar, Principal Government College Pojewal, Dr. Paramjit, former director Sugarfed Rana Kuldeep Singh Jadla, Sarpanch Manjit Kaur and Gurdwara Committee President of Beerowal, Pargan Singh.
