Ludhiana ,October 16 , 2019 : Sadar SHO inspector Sukhdev Singh and Lalton police post in-charge ASI Ashwani Kumar were suspended on Tuesday for negligence in the case of death of a property adviser. Their suspension came after the arrest of Pushpinder Kaur of Pakhowal Road; her paramour, Jaspreet Singh, 26, of Daad village; and contract killer Rajesh Kumar.
Police said the contract killer, who owns a grocery store in Dhandra, was hired for Rs 3 lakh to kill Harvinderpal Singh Sekhon, 44. Of the sum, he was paid Rs 1 lakh in advance.
Harvinderpal and his wife, Pushpinder, 43, ran a coaching academy on Pakhowal Road.
Deputy commissioner of police (detective) Simratpal Singh Dhindsa said, “Jaspreet was a student at Pushpinder’s academy in 2012 when he was in Class XII. They had known each other since and kept in touch. He would often visit the academy to meet her and they developed illicit relations in 2016.”
Jaspreet, a ward boy at a private hospital, had got married in January.
Commissioner of police Rakesh Agarwal said, “In May last, Harvinderpal came to know about Pushpinder and Jaspreet’s illicit relations and started beating her up. Upset, Pushpinder, in the first week of August, convinced Jaspreet to eliminate Harvinderpal. Thereafter, Jaspreet hired Rajesh and the deal was fixed for Rs 3 lakh. On August 13, Pushpinder gave her husband food laced with a sedative. When he got unconscious around 10pm, she called up Jaspreet, who came to her residence with Rajesh. Rajesh and Jaspreet stabbed Harvinderpal with an icepick near the backbone.”
