Senate & Syndicate Meeting of Guru Nanak Dev University

Amritsar, September 15, 2017​: The Senate & Syndicate meetings of the Guru Nanak Dev University were held here today in the Senate & Syndicate Rooms of the University, respectively.  Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor presided over both the meetings while Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar presented the agenda. Approval of new appointments and innovative proposals were the  main agenda of the meetings.

The approval to thirty nine teachers promotion and appointment of Sh. Chaman Lal, S.P. (Retd.) as Consultant (Vigilance) for taking suggestions on the technical flaws in the University and standing committee consisting of Sh.  Dilsher Singh Kalha, IAS(Retd) Former Secretary, Govt. of India; Sh. Ashok Thakur, IAS(Retd.) Former Secretary, Govt. of India Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Higher Education and Sh. Anil Kaushik, Director General of Police(Retd) and appointment of Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bilga, Consultant(Horticulture) as Consultant to handle the work of landscaping and farming  were accorded by the Syndicate.

Prof. Sandhu welcomed the newly joined members which was reciprocated by the new members by extending thanks to the University authorities and Government of Punjab for providing them  opportunity to serve this University as member of these prestigious houses. They  assured of their constructive contribution in the further progress of the University.

Vice-Chancellor  informed the house that  all decisions will taken strictly adhering to UGC guidelines and the syllabi of all the classes will be revised keeping in view the demands and requirements of the present day. He said that more considration will be given to hands on training to give more job opportunities. He said that keeping in view the present world trade and business, courses in Spanish, Japanese and Chinese will be started shortly.

Prof. Sandhu said that the new portal has been launched recently to enable the stakeholders to apply for the transcripts online from any where in the World, which will save processing time. New portal for one stop solutions regarding information about colleges,  file tracking, leave management system, research work activities of students and faculty , installation of swipe machines and issue of I-Card-cum Cash Cards to the students to enable them to get charge free transaction for their convienence.

He said that all the purchasing in the University will be done through a centralized committee constituted by the University. He said that for the entertainment of the students, the University will also organize weekend quality cinema shows at the campus.  He said that well stocked Gym will also be provided to the hostellers and swimming pool will be upgraded shortly. He said that the facility of University swimming pool , stay at University Guest House and Dalhousie Holday Home will be extended to outsider if available.
