Jalandhar, May 6,2020 : In order to ensure safety and security of the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) deployed on the frontline duty during the Covid 19 pandemic, the Military Literature festival has decided to provide face shields to them for rendering their duty efficaciously.
Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill, who was also Chairman of this association, started this drive here today. He said that it was the need of the hour to ensure that the GoGs were able to discharge their duty effectively. Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh the GoGs were performing their duty on various fronts to assist the Punjab government and district administrations on one hand and to bail out the people from the pandemic on the other.
Lieutenant General (Retd) said that GoGs were playing a proactive role in making the people aware about the precautionary measures to be taken for prevention against the fatal Corona virus. He said that as a fact of matter the GoGs have waged a war against Corona virus by disseminating maximum information amongst the masses. The Senior Advisor further said that GoGs were true patriots who had given the prime of their youth for the service of the country adding that now these brave hearts have assumed a new role by spreading maximum awareness at grass root level against the flue without creating any panic.
The Senior Advisor further said that the GoGs have played an important role in smooth procurement of the food grains in the district. He said that to save the farmers, labourers and others from Covid-19 pandemic, GOGs were entrusted task to ensure that all the medical protocols including social distancing, hand washing, wearing masks were followed by farmers and labourers to prevent fatal pandemic. Lieutenant General (Retd) said that, as usual, the brave hearts played their role well for smooth and hassle free procurement.
On the occasion, District Head of GoG Major General (Retd) Balwinder Singh, Assistant District Head Colonel (Retd) Avtar Singh, Chairman Milkfed Captain Harminder Singh, Officer on Special Duty to Senior Advisor Mr. Karanveer Singh and others were also present.
