RED CROSS PROVIDES FREE MEDICINES WORTH AROUND THREE LAKH TO NEEDY PERSONS

Jalandhar, January 4,2020  :In a humanitarian act the district Red Cross Society continued to serve the ailing society as free medicines worth around three lakh was disbursed to the needy people during the current fiscal.

Divulging the details Chairman of the society cum Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar  Varinder Kumar Sharma, while chairing a meeting of Executive Committee of District Red Cross society said that the Income of society during current financial year was Rs 84.53 lakh whereas the expenditure was Rs 73.90 lakh. He said that during the fiscal free medicines worth Rs 2,81,415 were provided to poor and needy patients and ration worth Rs 37,390 was provided to needy people. Mr Sharma said that likewise Rs 1,71,453 was spent on providing cruches, sewing machines, tricycles and wheel chairs.

The Deputy Commissioner also gave green signal for initiating a special drive to enroll new members for the District Red Cross.  He said that it would serve twin purposes of strengthening the Red Cross Society on one hand and associating more and more people with this society on the other. Mr. Sharma said that this would also ensure that more and more people were connected with this august organization.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Executive Committee to ensure optimum utilization of all the available resources of the society. It was also decided to enhance the first aid and home nursing training in all government / private school, colleges and other educational institutions.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Vineet Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Shayari Malhotra, Secretary Red Cross Paramjt Singh and others.
