Chandigarh,July 18, 2018 ( By SK.Vyas ): Understandings with Vitti Research Foundation and Sabudh Foundation here today. Prof. Arun Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University signed MoUs with Kundana Lal from
Vitti research foundation, and Dr. Sarabjot Singh Anand from Sabudh Foundation in the
presence of Prof. Shankarji Jha, DUI, Prof. Savita Gupta, Chairperson, UIET, Prof.
Ramanjit Kaur Johal, Director, Research Promotion Cell, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh,
Director, Computer Centre and Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Associate Director, Research
Promotion Cell.
A Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the field of AI and Robotics will be established
in the joint collaboration. The organisations have agreed to develop innovative
applications in the field of Smart City, Health, Manufacturing, Governance and
Agriculture. A premier laboratory for R&D in AI & Robotics will be established in
which Masters and PhD researchers will be given the opportunity to work with top Global
Universities and researchers. Students will be trained in keeping in mind the requirements
of the industry. Startup community and entrepreneurial ecosystem will also
be created in different AI fields. MOUs between the PU-Vitti Research Foundation and
PU-Sabudh Foundation is for the duration of five years.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has applications in speech recognition, natural language
processing, expert systems, computer vision, robotics, gaming and many other domains
. AI has already become a part of our everyday lives with a virtual personal
assistant to help us organise our day and perform tasks on our behalf. Recognising
the growing need of artificial intelligence in every aspect of life, these MoUs will
facilitate bridging gap between industry and academia.
