PU PROFESSOR TO BE CONFERRED WITH PRESTIGIOUS PHARMA FELLOWSHIP AWARD

Chandigarh October 26, 2018 ( By SK.Vyas): Professor Bhupinder Singh Bhoop, University Institute of

Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Coordinator, UGC Centre for Excellence in

Nano Biomedical Applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been

selected for one of the most coveted awards in recognition to his

distinguished services, i.e., “Fellowship Award of the Indian

Pharmaceutical Association (ÌPA)” for the year 2018. An Expert Panel

of IPA, Mumbai, has selected Professor Bhoop for this Award in

recognition to his exemplary contribution towards pharmaceutical

education, research, industry, administration and profession in the

Nation and across the globe. This prestigious award will be confered

upon him, along with a citation and robe of honour, during the IPA

Awards’ and Dinner Function, scheduled to be held on 22nd December

2018 during the 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Conference in New Delhi.

This news was conveyed to him through a communiqué from Dr T B Nair,

Coordinator, IPA Awards Panel, IPA-Head Quarters, Mumbai.

            Acclaimed globally for his scientific work, esp. in the

domain of novel nanomedicines using Quality by Design (QbD), Professor

Bhoop, a faculty member with a rich experience of 35 years, has to his

credit over 360 original publications, 15 books including 10-volume

book series on NanoBioMedicine, five patents and tech-transfers of two

nanostructured drug delivery technologies to industry. A widely

travelled scientist, he has delivered nearly 300 invited talks in

India and overseas, including USA, Canada, UK, Germany, China,

Thailand, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Dubai and Bangladesh. He has handled 16

research projects fetching research grants of 6.10 crores from

Government and corporate sectors, and guided/guiding nearly 100

research scholars including 31 doctoral, and 6 post-doctoral

researchers. He holds the unique distinction of having duly trained

several hundreds of industrial scientists under his direct guidance,

esp. on QbD. Out of over 320 conference presentations made by his

team, 32 have fetched Best Paper Awards.

            The current “IPA Fellowship Award” is a sequel to several

other global and national awards and accolades already bestowed upon

Professor Bhoop, like Leading Educators of World (UK) 2007, Pharma

Buzz Pharma Personality Award 2008, Shiksha Rattan Puruskar 2008,

Innovative Scientist Award 2012, QbD Product Performance Award 2012

and 2013 (AAPS, USA), QbD Excellence Award 2013 (CPhI Asia),

Outstanding Scientist Award 2014 (SelectBio, UK), Pharma QbD

Outstanding Performance Award 2014 (Stat-Ease, USA), APTI Best

Pharmacy Teacher Award 2014, Baichwal Oration Award 2015 (ICT),

Scientist Par Excellence Award 2015 (Minitab Inc, UK), Eudragit Award

2015 (Evonik, Germany), JS Rai Oration Award 2015 (GNDU), HT Performer

of 2015, Honorary Fellowship Award of Punjab Academy of Sciences 2016,

Innovative Healthcare Researcher Award 2016 (WWA‎), Name in Science

Award (EBA, Oxford, UK) 2016, Best Publication Award 2017, and many

more.

            At Panjab University, Professor Bhoop is also the

Coordinator of UGC Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Pharmaceutical

Sciences. Besides, he has also been the Chairman, University Institute

of Pharm. Sciences (2014-17), Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical

Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh (2011-13), Dean Alumni

Relations (2007-2011), University Syndicate Member (2013-15),

University Senate Member (2013-15). On the basis of his exemplary

accomplishments, he has been nominated by Hon’ble Vice President of

India, Mr Hamid Ansari, to the PU Senate as the Fellow of Panjab

University from 2012-2016.

            The IPA is the apex body of pharmaceutical scientists and

professionals of India.  It was founded in 1939 with the mission of

promoting the highest standards of professional and ethical standards

of pharmacy and offering a national platform to deal with various

issues related to different facets of pharmacy. This national body has

over a score of state branches and patronage of more than 14,000 life

members across the country.
