Prof. Harvinder Singh honoured with ‘Pt. Ghanarang Prakash Samman’

Chandigarh, June 1: Renowned Classical Vocalist from Chandigarh, Prof. Harvinder Singh gets honoured with ‘Pandit Ghanarang Prakash Samman’ for the year 2020-21 by Bihar’s 500-year-old Dumraon Gharana Dhrupad Tradition. This honour was specially conferred by President of the institution, ‘Padam Shri’ Pt. Vijay Sharma, Executive Director Pt. Devendra Verma and Honorary Secretary Pt. Ramji Mishra.

Prof. Harvinder Singh expressed his gratitude to the Dumraon Gharana Dhrupad Tradition for the honour. He said felicitation of art is a moment of utmost happiness for every artist and he also feels the same. He informed that due to Covid-19 pandemic, it was not possible for him to travel to Bihar, so he had to accept this honour through online medium. He said that it’s a moment of great pride being selected for this prestigious Award by one of the oldest musical institution of India. He said that he would continue his endeavour to work for the propagation of cultural and traditional arts of India.

It is noteworthy to mention that in November last year, Prof. Harvinder Singh participated in the musical event organized by Dumraon Gharana Dhrupad Tradition and gave his performance of Classical music. Belonging to the Agra-Gwalior Gharana tradition of classical music, Prof. Harvinder Singh is a graded artist of All India Radio, New Delhi and Member of Regional Advisory Board of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India. Apart from this, he has also been nurturing students for nearly three and a half decades for propagation of this age-old traditional art. Many of his students are excelling in Classical music, Bollywood, Punjabi film &
music industry, etc.
