Chandigarh/Mohali, April 27, 2020: The Advanced cardiac center, Department of Cardiology has been ranked among the top 10 cardiac centers for cardiac care patients in the country and provides a wide range of services across all subspecialties of Cardiology. The department runs several laboratories including Cardiac Cath Lab, Echocardiography, TMT, Holter, Hut Test, and others.
The workload of the department has progressively increased over the years and at present 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the department has decided to take immediate measures In this regard.
According to the press release., With the collaboration of Cardiothoracic Surgery and other the department has been successful in starting the Cardiac Transplant program. In view of the global COVID- 19 Pandemic, many of the cardiac patients are not able to seek cardiologist consultations and follow up as all OPD are closed in the PGMR.
Keeping in view the interests of the patient head of the Department of Cardiology, under the leadership of Prof Yash Paul Sharma, has decided to start telecardiology consultation and teleconferencing. It should be ensured that follow up patients take teleconsultation on their respective OPD days only.
Under this, all faculty members and senior residents will be available on their respective OPD days according to the OPD schedule as attached. This will be done keeping in view the GOI directive of maintaining social distancing for the benefit of the patient and also in nations’ interest in order to prevent the spread of disease.
All follow up patients of the coronary stent are advised to continue all their drugs prescribed by their doctor. Most importantly, anti-platelets (blood thinner) and other drugs should be ensured that they are continued without any interruption. Further, patients are advised to continue their drugs for two months so that they can have followed up after the lockdown is eased. In case of emergency, the patient can any time avail emergency services in the PGIMER, EMOPD at Nehru Hospital. This extended facility will be helpful for all cardiac patients and also it will help in further containment of infection
