Pakistan High Commissioner to India at PU

Chandigarh, April 24,2018: “The purpose is not only to reach academia but to reach the youth for improving the perceptions

”, said Pakistan High Commissioner to India  Sohail Mahmood on his visit

to Panjab University here today. He further added that the challenge is to talk

to each other rather talk to each other for smooth flow of communications. He was

positive that negative impacts between the two nations can be neutralised by exchanging

ideas and addressing concerns.

Mahmood, HC of Pakistan to India urged to bring about a paradigm shift in the framework

of South Asian nations through the researcher’s academicians, and public intellectuals

.  They can be instrumental in the change of mindset to interact in a

better way despite all the constraints.

The PU faculty and students provided various insights into steps that can be taken

to bridge the gap between two nations both culturally and academically. Suggestions

regarding student and faculty exchange programs were put across the table. A

perceptional change in the Youth of the nation was regarded as the most important

aspect in order to bring the Universities closer.

Various research journals, literature platforms and film festivals were discussed

that can be chosen as a platform to the students of both Universities. The session

concluded with an understanding that the utopian ideas will take their own pace to

formulate in an institutional framework. He urged all to take the doable steps

pragmatically to reach that stage.

Prof. Arun K Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University emphasised on the establishment of

a soft link between the two namesake universities through video conferencing,

discussions and lectures on Skype etc.

The meeting was attended by DUI, Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra, Director, Internal

Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), members of Research Promotion Cell (RPC), senior

faculty, researchers and students.
