Sangrur, February 5, 2020: Under the Mission Tandarust Punjab, the district administration is going to organise ‘Sangrur Half Marathon’ for Cancer awareness on February 29. Disclosing the information, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Ghanshyam Thori said that the event is being organised in association with District Olympic Association under three categories; half marathon of 21.09 kms for male and female sportspersons, Diva Run for female runners of 10 Kms and Fun Run to make the people aware of the physical fitness with the help of excercise.
He added that after the event, a musical event, ‘Star Night’ will be staged in local Ranbir College from 6 pm onwards in which prominent Punjabi folk singer Satinder Sartaj will perform.
Mr. Thori said that the winner in the half marathon category will be honoured with Rs. 1 lakh and first runners up to get 51 thousand and second runner up will get Rs. 31,000. He added that the district administration has also planned attractive prizes in the Diva Run category for females as the winner will get Rs 51,000 and next two position holder runners will be honoured with Rs 31,000 and 21,000 respectively. He added that the interested sportspersons and district residents would get themselves registered as participant on website www.sangrurmarathon.com.
While presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements of the event, DC said that sportspersons from all over the country would participate in the event and district administration would ensure fool proof arrangements for the success of the event. He added that the Fun Run will start at 8 in the morning from War Heros Stadium Sangrur.
On this occasion, ADC (g) Rajesh Tripathi, SDM Babandeep Singh Walia, SDM Dirba Manjit Singh Cheema, SDM Lehra Kala Ram Bansal, SDM Bhawanigarh Ankur Mahindroo, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Devdarshdeep Singh, DSP Satpal Sharma among other district officials were also present.
