Ferozepur, December 6, 2017: On the last day of filing of nomination papers for Municipal Council polls in the State, an alleged incident of firing has been reported in Mallanwala in Ferozepur District.
The elections of Makhu and Mallanwala civic bodies are being held along with others in the state.
As per the information, an Akali leader has allegedly been injured. The vehicle of Akali worker has also been damaged in the incident.
With the firing incident, the situation at Mallanwala has become tense and DC, SSP reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Today was the last date to file the nomination and the Akali Dal leaders have leveled serious charges of high handedness on the part of Congress leaders. They have alleged that Congress leaders being in power are restraining them from filing nominations.
Earlier also, they had protested for not issuing them NOC document required for filing the nominations with one or the other reasons.
A SAD-BJP delegation has also urged the State Election Commission to take action against officials for intentionally issuing no due certificates to their candidates for the forthcoming municipal elections.
