Meerpur (Rewari), July 24–The Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, has said that intellectuals are a guide to the society and those contributing to the field of journalism, literature and culture establish values which make the path of life a lot easier. They present the right picture of whatever is happening around and play a significant role in generating awareness towards upliftment of the society.
Solanki was speaking after conferring honorary degree of Doctorate of Philosophy on Chairman of the National Book Trust, Baldeo Bhai Sharma, at a special convocation ceremony of Indira Gandhi University Meerpur, Rewari, here today.
Congratulating Mr. Sharma on receiving the honorary degree, the Governor applauded his achievements. Before becoming Chairman of the National Book Trust, Mr Sharma had worked in big media houses for 35 years and set new benhmarks in the field of journalism.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Indira Gandhi University, Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Bansal, presented details of the achievements and programmes of the university.
Others present on the occasion included the Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Himachal Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, Secretary to Governor, Dr. Amit Kumar Agarwal, Vice-Chairman of Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board, Prashant Bhardwaj, and State Information Commissioner, Bhupender Kumar Dharmani.
