Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU) signs MoA with International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) for end-user computer skills

Chandigarh, Nov 9, 2017:  On the occasion of National Entrepreneurship Day, the Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL), an international standard for end-user computer skills. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, it is the world’s largest digital skills certification programme with over 15 million candidates certified to date in over 100 countries. The MoU is signed to provide digital literacy in all sectors defined by HVSU in its vision document.

        Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor of HVSU, Raj Nehru said that this partnership would contribute significantly to the digital literacy mission of the State in various sectors such as IT/ITES, agriculture, banking, financial services and insurance, health, sports, and security. He said that though there was a huge digital divide in the State, recently digital awareness has gained up. There is a need for structured skilling and paradigm shift, and HVSU is committed to bringing a socio-educational change in the society to empower the youth of the State.

         General Manager – ICDL Asia, Ms. Tina Wu said that it was a proud moment to be associated with India’s first government skill university. She said that ICDL has already training programmes running worldwide including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and in India its focus would not only be on IT professionals but also reach various other non-IT sectors to enhance the digital skills.

          Country Head – ICDL India, Sayem Mehmood thanked Vice Chancellor and said that the pilot projects under the MoU would be implemented on the fast track.

        Dr. Jatinder Singh from Ph.D. Chamber of Commerce with other dignitaries from PHD. also graced the occasion and said that such initiatives can be very helpful for the MSME sectors. Registrar of HVSU, Dr Sunil Gupta presented vote of thanks on the occasion.

          Others present on the occasion included Head of Communication and Advocacy – ICDL India, Saher Mahmood, Project Coordinator – ICDL India, Divya Sharma, Ms. Nisha Singh from Management and Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council, Manish Kumar from Confederation of Indian Industry,  Jitendra Routray from ReNew and officials of HVSU.
