GNDU organized 2 days workshop on Plant Tissue Culture Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences.

Amritsar February 28, 2019 : Guru Nanak Dev University organized a two-day workshop for the M.Sc.Botany students on Plant Tissue Culture Technology as part of EntrepreneurshipCell (ECell) unit of IIT Kharagpur in association with Makeintern.E-Cell, a non-profit student’s organization established in 2006 dedicated to promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among students throughout India.

            E-Cellhas since been involved in more than 70 startup companies in the initial stages of their existence and has taken up various initiatives to promote new ventures by students across the country. Makeintern is an online portal that provides various internship opportunities in India. About 35 students participated in hands-on training in the field of Plant Tissue Culture conducted by Dr. Jyoti Bala, Chief Scientific Advisor, Moss Scientific, Bangalore as the resource person for the workshop.

            Dr. Jyoti also guided the students on what different careers they can choose to live their dream and turn their out-of-the-box ideas into reality. The workshop ended with a written test to check the knowledge gained during the workshop.

            Dr. M S Bhatti, Head of botanical & environmental sciences department introduced the expert and Dr Kirandeep Dhami was faculty coordinator for this workshop. Top five students selected as best performers based on three parameters (i) interpersonal skills (ii) verbal communication and (iii) written performance.

            The top students are Prince Kumar, Ojasvi, Tanuja, Baljeet Singh and Palakpreet Kaur, who have been shortlisted to participate in the national level event to be held in June 2019 at IIT Chennai.

Prof. Avinsh Kaur Nagpal, a senior faculty member was instrumental in conducting practical training to the students. Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU congratulated the students and advised them to attend various national and international events to improve their understanding and better job prospects.

            PhD scholar Poonam Choudhary and supporting staff Arun Kumar and Satveer contributed in the successful completion of this workshop.
