GNDU IMPROVES NIRF RANKING FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Amritsar June 11, 2020: It is a matter of pride that once again Guru Nanak Dev University has improved its ranking in the National Institute Ranking Frame (NIRF) – 2020 Rankings which were released by  Minister of Human Resource Development Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today. As per the new ranking, Guru Nanak Dev University has been ranked 51st among all the central, public and private universities in India. This University is now ranked 18th among the State-funded universities of India. Despite the fact that the competition has increased manifold in the NIRF rankings, still, Guru Nanak Dev University has improved its position from 59th to 51st over the period of the last two years due to its committed and dedicated hard work.

It is pertinent to say that, NIRF ranks the various institutes on the basis of 5 parameters namely Teaching and Learning Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation outcome, Overall Inclusivity and Perception.  This year Guru Nanak Dev University improved its performance in 3 out of these 5 criteria namely Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcome and Perception. These improvements point to the existence of an excellent research environment and great higher education and placement opportunities for the graduates of this university under the stewardship of dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu. A good ranking in NIRF enables the universities to get several prestigious grants from federal funding agencies.

Guru Nanak Dev University is also ranked amongst the top 9% universities in the world and top 10 state public universities in India as recently assessed by a leading international evaluation agency, “Centre for World University Ranking (CWUR). Nature Index, which tracks the high-quality scientific articles published by an institute, has also ranked this University among the top 10 universities in India. This University has been consistently improving its ranking in various rankings and indexes.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.Jaspal Singh Sandhu associates this excellence to the continuous efforts and hard work of the faculty and students of the University.
