General Observer and DC review arrangements for dispatch and receiving of EVMs for shahkot by-election

ü  2400 members of polling staff to be ferried to 236 polling stations in more than 50 buses

Shahkot (Jalandhar), May 24, 2018 ( By Sachin Vyas): The district administration would make elaborate arrangements to streamline the dispatch and receiving of the EVMs and VVPAT machine for the by-election of Shahkot assembly segment on May 28.

General Election Observer Ravi Kant Jain and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma visited the strong room set up at the Public Senior Secondary School here today to oversee the arrangements for the dispatch and receiving of the machines. They said that the polling parties would be given the EVMs and VVPATs on May 27 and then around 2400 staff comprising the polling parties would be ferried to the 236 polling stations at 189 locations in more than 50 buses. Likewise, they said that the same polling parties would come back at the strong room after polling was over to hand over the machines.

They said that for monitoring the entire work 21 sector officers along with other supporting staff has been appointed. They said that the sector officers would be responsible for the smooth dispatch and receiving of the EVMs and VVPAT machines on both days. They said that a sector route plan has been meticulously prepared to ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of the polling parties to the polling stations.

Both the officers also said that all out efforts would be made to ensure that this work was completed effectively without any delay. They said that during the dispatch and receiving of machines elaborate arrangements would be made for the parking of vehicles in the school. Similarly, they said that proper arrangements for security of EVMs would also be made.

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Sub Divisional Magistrate Jasjit Singh, Assistant Collector ( Under Training) Mr Himanshu Jain and others.
