DUIC give nod for Development works worth Rs 6.13 crore for Jalandhar Cantt

Punjab government allocates Rs 21 crore under Punjab environment improvement program

Jalandhar, January 30, 2020:  In a big boost to the ongoing development of the Jalandhar city, the District Urban Infrastructure Committee (DUIC) headed by Deputy Commissioner  Varinder Kumar Sharma today gave a green signal to development works worth Rs 6.13 crore in Jalandhar Cantt and Jalandhar West assembly segments.

During a meeting held here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by MLA Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku and Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar Mr Diperva Lakra approved the new works worth RS 2.17 crore to be executed in Jalandhar West assembly constituency and Rs 3.96 crore in the Jalandhar Cantt assembly segment. The works would be executed Punjab environment improvement program started by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Under this ambitious scheme of the state government grant worth Rs 21 crore have been given to five assembly constituencies of the district.

Out of this Rs 5 crore each was given to Jalandhar West, Jalandhar Central, Jalandhar North and Jalandhar Cantt assembly segment besides Rs 1 crore to Kartarpur constituency for carrying out development works. The estimates for development works of these constituencies have been already approved by the committee and sent to state government. As some of these works were pending in these two constituencies so the committee cleared the remaining proposals also.

The committee approved the execution of these works in the larger public interest. The proposals cleared by the DUIC would be sent to the state government for its clearance.

On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner  Kulwant Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Jai Inder Singh, Extra Assistant Commissioner  Amandeep Singh, Superintendent Engineer  MM Syal and others were also present.
