Chandigarh, Aug 20 – District Administrations, Hisar and Fatehabad have issued orders to impose Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in their respective districts, prohibiting carrying of firearms and other weapons and assembly of five or more persons, as a precautionary measure in view of verdict to be delivered by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the case of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, on August 25, 2017.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the ban would remain in place till August 31 in district Fatehabad.
Bearers of arms licenses in the district have been directed to deposit their weapons in respective police stations or license dealers within two days. Peace is prevailing in the district and the District Administration is maintaining contact with the people. Activities on social media are also being monitored, he added.
He said that in district Hisar, the ban would remain in place from August 24 till further orders. Strict action would be taken against violators under Section 188.
