DC Ferozepur becomes Santa Claus for poor, late night distributes blankets

Ferozepur, December 26, 2019: Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Chander Gaind proved to be Santa Claus for homeless people living in the city when he distributes blankets to the needy people on Wednesday late night, to protect them from the cold.

To help the homeless, Deputy Commissioner had a round of the city – railway station, slum areas, civil hospital – from 10.30 pm to 12.30 am, to help the homeless and distributed blankets.

DC Chander Gaind had also interaction with the patients and their relatives and inquired about the problems being faced by them.

While some of the elders were overwhelmed with the help of blankets from the Deputy Commissioner, when one of the needy person, while talking to the Deputy Commissioner said, “For us, DC is Santa Claus today, who has distributed blankets during a chilly weather”.

Added here, Deputy Commissioner from the day one of his joining has taken several steps – travelling in a train to join martyrs shaeedi mela at Hussainiwala, spending time with the orphanage at his residence as special guests, providing relief to the elderly couple by arranging possessions of their house.  Similarly, he also encouraged the children from the slum areas by singing a song in the programme at Tagore Theatre in Chandigarah.  This is the reason that now he is known as Public DC.

On this occasion, Ashok Behal, Secretary Red Cross Society and V.K.Dhingra, ADEN Nr.Railway were also present.
