DC Ferozepur flagged off Cycle Expedition of Air Force personnel to Hussainiwala
Ferozepur, November 28, 2019: Keeping in with IAF’s long-standing tradition of fostering the spirit of adventure and undertaking daunting challenges, the Cycle Expedition of 31 Air Force personnel started from Air Force Station, Suratgarh from November 25 to November 30, was first given a warm welcome and then flagged off by Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur for Hussainiwala Border.
The 31-member team started its journey on November 25 from Suratgarh Air Force Station under the tutelage of Gp Capt MK Pandey and Wg Cdr Ajitesh Kumar, Wg Cdr PK Mishra and reached Ferozepur covering 240 km on November 27 evening with one day’s stay at Ganganagar and Fazilka. The Cycle Expedition will be culminated at Suratgarh on November 30.
Cyclists – Sohan Singh Sodhi, Harbir Sandhu, Navneet Kumar, Phuman Singh, Chandan Bajaj, from Hussainiwala Riders Ferozepur joined the cycling group of Air Force personnel to witness the Retreat Ceremony.
Flagging of the Cycle Expedition and knowing their experience of cycle expedition, Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind said, the expedition underlying them ‘Let’s Go Green’ along with an aim of patriotism, save environment and keep the body healthy.
All team members enjoyed the aggressive postures – standing on toes, touching the moustaches, raising of arms and eyebrows – that are quite noticeable during the beating the retreat ceremony and visited the BSF Gallary where the pistol used by Bhagat Singh to kill British police officer John Saundersin December 1928, has been kept. They also danced after the retreat ceremoy over the patriotic song with zest and zeal. Later, they visited the Martyrs Memorial to pay tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Raj Mata and B.K.Dutt.
