WIDENING OF 29.36 KM STRETCH COMPLETES
Jalandhar, February 2, 2020: In a major relief to commuters, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma has ordered the immediate starting of work on the construction of 29.36 km stretch from Jalandhar-Jandiala- Nurmahal-Talwan to be completed by July 31, this year.
The construction of this one of the major roads of the district will give huge relief to the commuters traveling on the road.
The construction will be in full-swing after a week as mercury will get up from the earlier days.
Divulging the details, The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that this stretch of 29.36 km has been widened from 5-meter to 7 meters.
He said that the Punjab Government had sanctioned Rs 17.17 crore and the work was allotted to a Kapurthala based private firm.
Sharma said that the commuters were facing a lot of difficulties due to potholes but now the construction work will be over by July 31 and this will facilitate the travelers.
Deputy Commissioner said the construction work will be monitored regularly by the district administration through SDMs so that the project progress at the fast pace and work gets completed.
He said that the Punjab Government is committed to ensuring for developing the road infrastructure in the state.
SDO Jaspreet Singh said that it would also help to reduce the traffic load on GT road as the people will have an optional road for a smooth ride from Jalandhar to Phillaur via this stretch.
