The Character Building Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a national level Essay Writing Competition ‘Subodh’ to raise awareness about New Education Policy 2020. The participants were required to submit their entries in Hindi/English/Punjabi on any one of the given topics which were- ‘Mantra of Global Welfare in National Education Policy’ and ‘Role of Educational Institutions in India’. The participants harnessed their creative expression skills to present nuanced viewpoints on the given topics wherein they highlighted the role of New Education Policy in revamping the higher education system and creating world class institutions across the country, among other points. The winners in each category were awarded cash prizes. In another activity, the Character Building Committee released its annual magazine ‘Swasti Dhara’. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, along with the members of the Committee, released the magazine that provides glimpses of the activities conducted under the aegis of the Committee during the year. Dr. Bhargava lauded the Character Building Committee for organising various relevant activities, which are in line with the ethos of New Education Policy, with the objective of inculcating a strong value system in students. She further said that character building of students through such novel initiatives holds immense significance as it lays the foundation for nation building.
