Jalandhar, March 28, 2020 ( By Madhur Vyas): Punjab government’s efforts to provide basic essentials especially the medicines to the people at their doorsteps proved to be a boon for a three-month-old baby, who was scheduled to undergo major life-saving surgery, as the district administration ensured medicines to her parents in the critical situation thereby given major succor to the family.
Three years old- Abhi was suffering from a critical problem due to which her stool was passed through the stomach. The parents of the little angel were advised for two life-saving intestine surgeries, one of which had been conducted earlier, whereas the other was scheduled at the end of this month. However, after the imposition of curfew in the city the parents of the child were facing huge problems in getting the medicines needed for the surgery.
The medical stores had expressed their inability to help the parents as the required medicines were available in the surgical stores only. However, after the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Varinder Kumar Sharma released the list of Helpline numbers that could be contacted for the supply of grocery, milk, vegetables and medicines besides in case of any emergency, the mother of baby called on Drug Control Officer Kamal Kamboj. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the Drug Control Officer immediately swung into action ensured the supply of the required medicine at their doorsteps.
An emotional mother thanked the efforts being made by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and district administration to bail out the people in this hour of crisis. She also lauded the role of officers of the Health department especially the Drug Control Officer for their untiring efforts.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the district administration was duty-bound to extend a helping hand to the people. Sharma said that every effort was being made to further streamline the supply of essential goods amidst the curfew being imposed for ensuring the security of the people from the Corona Virus. He assured the people that no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause.
