Chandigarh, December 21,2020: The Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP ) Punjab on Monday said that the attitude and approach of Punjab chief minister Captain Aamrinder Singh towards the farmers was akin to that of prime minister Narendra Modi, who were currently protesting against the central laws on the Delhi borders. The party said that the Captain government was also resorting to oppressive measures to sabotage the farmers’ stir to appease the Modi government.
In a statement released to the Media from the party headquarters on Monday, state Kisan Wing and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, while showing a copy of the letter issued by the Sangrur district administration to media persons, said that it was a trailer on the part of Captain Amarinder Singh government to tire out the farmers and weaken their protest.
According to the letter, the local SDM Babandeep Singh, at a meeting held between him and palace, tent and DJ owners, businessman-shopkeepers, where he read out the tall order that tents, sound system and other items could not be provided for processions, rallies, ‘dharnas’ without the prior permission of the district administration, adding that they would do it at their own peril.
Sandhwan on the occasion said that, on the one hand, farmers from across the country, including Punjab, were fighting a decisive battle for survival on the Delhi borders, on the other hand the Captain government was depriving them from the essential items and infrastructure to the protesting farmers.
The Kisan Wing chief said that the Captain Amarinder Singh government was adopting such undemocratic measures simply to appease Modi-Shah, seeking roll back of the dictatorial order of the Captain dispensation.
Sandhwan said that CM was going the whole hog to protect his son Raninder Singh and other family members in money laundering cases pendng against them, saying that his ‘shading meeting with the union home minister Amti Shah ahead of the farmers’ representative meeting was a pointer to the fact.
Sandhwan said that the CM got rid of the ED cases by stabbing the farmers in their back and was hell bent on tormenting the traders and ‘artiyas’ supporting the protesting farmers were being targeted through the Income Tax department. Sandhwan also slammed the government for ill-treating the unemployed ETT teachers who were lathi-charged.
