New Delhi, July 27: The Central Bureau of Investigation has on Thursday arrested J.S.Bath, Garrison Engineer ( Lt.Colonel) MES, Karwar (Karnatka), R.B.Chawan, Assistant Garrison Engineer MES, Karnataka both working in MES, Karwar (Karnataka) in an alleged bribery case.
According to CBI Spokesperson RK.Gaur, CBI registered a case Under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 on a complaint against a Garrison Engineer (Lt. Colonel) and an Assistant Garrison Engineer both working in MES, Karwar (Karnataka).
Gaur said it was alleged in the complaint that the said officials demanded Rs. 1.5 lakh and Rs. One lakh respectively from the complainant (a civil contractor and executing civil works at KES, Karwar) for clearing the pending bills and the payments already made. It was also alleged that as the first installment, they respectively demanded Rs. 50,000/- in the form of gold and cash. CBI laid a trap and the Garrison Engineer was caught red-handed while accepting 30 gold coins (total 15 grams) and the Assistant Garrison Engineer was caught red-handed while accepting Rs. 50,000/- from the Complainant. Searches are being conducted at the premises of accused.
Both the arrested accused are being produced in the competent court.
