NEW DELHI,JUNE 24:The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Senior Section Engineer(Works), Western Railway, Valsad (Gujarat) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against Senior Section Engineer (Works), Western Railway, Valsad on the allegations of demanding a bribe for clearing the bills of Rs.12 lakh(approx) related to a contract awarded to the complainant’s firm. It was further alleged that total demand of gratification was Rs.2.10 lakh(approx) for the earlier 4 bills of about Rs.50 lakh(approx) which were cleared. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the office & residential premises of accused which led to the recovery of incriminating documents along with cash of Rs.5.62 lakh(approx).
The arrested accused is being produced today before the Designated Court in Ahmedabad.
