Youths need to derive inspiration from sacrifices of martyrs’: Sama

Ferozepur July 31, 2018:  Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Udham Singh’s martyrdom day was also celebrated by Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial Committee Firozpur at Shaheed Udham Singh Bhawan, Ferozepur City and floral tributes were paid at the statue of Shaheed Udham Singh at the chowk named after him.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwan Singh Sama, President of Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial Committee said, all Indians are proud of sacrifice of Shaheed Udham Singh and let us not forget our martyrs like Udham Singh who sacrificed for everything for us. Youths need to derive inspiration from sacrifices of martyrs.

The celebration started with the start of bhog of Shri Akhand Paath Sahib followed by stage performance by ‘dhadi jatha’ of Shaheed Varan with a message to the people to get inspiration by taking  guidance from the martyr’s life

He further said the land of Punjab has got the honor of being the land of gurus, heroes, warriors and martyrs. This land has given birth to such warriors, who sacrificed their lives happily, for the freedom of country.   Upon hanging on the gallows, they ( martyrs’) kissed the rope with their own hands and did not treat the death as death but as their brides and Shaheed Udham Singh was one of them – who took the revenge of firing by the British colonialists, at Jallian Wala Bagh on April 13, 1919 on the innocent unarmed Punjabis, by killing the Sir Michael O’Dyer in London by managing to take the pistol in the book to Caxton Hall,  especially cut for the purpose.

Sama said that the countrymen are proud of the martyr Udham Singh’s sacrifice, but the martyrs are not given due respect by the governments. The government should collect the complete information about the martyrs and bring it to the people so that the spirit of the country should increase in the coming generations and the spirit of the protection of the country and society by inspiration from the martyrs’ life can be developed.

At this occasion, Guru Langar was indefinable.
