Teachers to protest transfers orders before announcing ‘transfer policy’: GTU

Ferozepur July 18, 2018 ( bY TNL Bureau): Issuance of transfer orders of non-teaching staff, without inviting applications for transfers and announcing transfer policy, the Punjab Education Department has ordered the transfers.

Moreover, the State Education Minister challenging anybody to expose corruption in transfers with Rs 5 lakh reward has invited criticism.

“Now the question arises, as to who will get this award?”, said Balwinder Singh Bhutto, President, Rajiv Handa, Senior Vice President and Jaswinder Singh Mamdot, General Secretary and Balwinder Singh Chabba, Finance Secretary.

Just a week back, the Punjab Education Minister, Om Parkash Soni had announced a prize of Rs. 5 lakh for any whistle-blower giving information with concrete proof of bribe in the teachers’ transfers. He claimed that the transfers were made in a transparent manner and no political pressure or money power was allowed in influencing the transfers.

Education Minister instead of regularising the teachers and office employees working under different schemes and societies is deliberately trying to divert the right struggle of the teachers to the wrong direction, in which he will never succeed, said the government teachers union.

Talking about this, Neeraj Yadav, Sandeep, Gaurav Munjal, Sanjeev Tandon said the Education Minister talking about to save the education system and to dismiss those protesting for their demands, should resign from his post on the release of the list of transfers without applying for the same.

They further said that in case the meeting with the Chief Minister Punjab on July 23 is without any positive results then Joint Teachers Front, Punjab will organize the Flag March.

They said the earlier transfers of Education Minister for agitation against the robbing of teachers by corrupt methods. Likewise, the teachers are well aware of the honesty of the Education Minister with the pick and choose the policy on transfer of teachers, over the rights of thousands of teachers.

Giving a warning to the Education Minister, they said, in case, there are transfers without issuing the transfer policy, there will be agitation for which the responsibility will be of the government.

Meanwhile, Bhupinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Dhiman said that the airing the consent of teachers on TV channel by the Education Minister was nothing but a bag full of lies, as there was no such meeting with the Minister.

Levelling charges on the Education Minister for making false statements, they said, to raise voice against the anti-teachers policies, is the democratic right of the people of Punjab, teachers and teachers unions, which cannot be snatched by the Education Minister.
