- Jalandhar, October 05, 2017: In a big reprieve to the students desirous of taking admissions in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) in the district, the school management has now decided to start online admissions for the students interested in getting a quality education in these schools, free of cost.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that to seek admission in these schools the students could now apply online from September 25 to November 25. Exhorting the people to optimally utilize this opportunity, he said that these co-educational schools, one of which was imparting education in village Talwandi Madho of the district, were operational in all the districts of the country and were equipped with separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. Likewise, Sharma said that these schools offer free education, boarding and
lodging facilities for the students besides ensuring holistic development of the students through wide cultural exchange programme through migration scheme.The Deputy Commissioner said that these schools run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti were also equipped with the ultra modern computer labs to impart hi-end computer education to the students. He said that the students interested in seeking admission in this school must visit the website www.nvshq.org for more information.
Regarding the eligibility criteria, the Deputy Commissioner said that a student studying in class fifth in the current academic session in the Government/ Government recognized a school of the district was eligible for admission. Likewise, he said that students studied or passed classes third and fourth from Government/ Government recognized school was also eligible for admission provided they must have studied throughout the full academic session in these classes. Similarly, Mr. Sharma said that the students must have been born on May 1, 2005, and April 30, 2009 adding that 75% seats in the school were reserved for children from school located in rural areas, one third seat for girls, three percent seats for Divyang children and for SC/ ST as per the norms of Government of India.
