SBS Nagar Female Voters Outnumber Male Voters

Nawanshahr, September 20, 2018: The polling for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti in district SBS Nagar has not only remained peaceful but it has also witnessed encouraging turnout of women voters. While the total percentage of voters in the district remained 60.70 per cent,  the contribution of women voters in strengthening democracy at the grass root level in the recently concluded election for the Panchayati Raj Institutions was 64.88 per cent.

    Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer, Vinay Bublani said that the enthusiasm among the women voters was witnessed in all the five blocks and their turnout was far better than the male voters. The highest turnout of women voters has been witnessed in Balachaur block, where 72.86 per cent women exercised their franchise. Similarly, the in Saroya block, the participation of women voters was 69.86, in Nawanshahr 63.73 %, Banga 60.81 %  and in Aur 59.93 per cent.

    The Balachaur block also remained on top in the participation of male voters by recording 64.03 % polling. The male voters’ turnout in Saroya block remained  58.90%,  in Nawanshahr 56.92 %,  in Banga, 53.24 % and in Aur 52.02 %.

      Balachaur also showed the maximum percentage of voters’ turn out. It was 68.20 per cent. Saroya stands second by polling percentage of 64.16. Nawanshahr showed 60.23, Banga 56.91 and Aur 55.84 per cent.
