Ferozepur, December 12, 2017: High voltage drama was witnessed in Mallanwala block in this border district today when hundreds of enraged Congress workers attacked the senior SAD leaders including Avtar Singh Minna, SAD District President, Vardev Singh Noni Mann, former Halqa In-charge, Guruharsahai, Joginder Singh Jindu, former MLA from Ferozepur (Rural) and others and shattered the SUVs in which they were travelling.
Later while addressing the press conference, Minna alleged that the SAD leaders were attacked at the behest of congress MLA from Zira Kulbir Singh. “We were attacked with sharp edged weapons and stones were pelted on our SUVs. Several shots were also fired on our vehicles and we narrowly saved our lives. The police officials were also hand-in-glove with congress leaders”, said Minna.
THE MATTER
The SAD workers are alleging that their workers are not getting NOCs from the Executive Officer due to which they were facing problem in filing the nominations. Today all the senior SAD leaders of Ferozepur met Charandeep Singh, Returning Officer and when they were coming back after meeting the RO, they were attacked by hundreds of Congress workers in the presence of Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira.
“No NOC was given to our candidates even on the last day of the nomination. My vehicle was attacked by hundreds of Congress workers. Congress has unleashed a reign of terror in Punjab and this day will be remembered as “Black day” for democracy”, said Vardev Singh Noni Mann.
As soon as the matter was reported, all the senior officers including Bhupinder Singh, SSP, Ferozepur, Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur reached the spot and took stock of the situation. However, no case was registered till now.
