P U organize International Webinar “Space Inside Out Museum Space and Performance Art.”

Chandigarh June 4, 2020:The Department  of Art History and Visual Arts organized an International Webinar  in conversation with  Satadru Sovan Banduri, an international  multi-disciplinary artist on “Space Inside Out Museum Space and Performance Art.”

The entire conversation was curated and moderated by Dr. Tirthankar Bhattacharya, Chairperson of the department who is also a multidisciplinary artist and has curated shows on performance art.  The talk was interdisciplinary and was well attended by national and international artists, researchers and scholars. The vote of thanks was presented by Professor Rajeev Patnaik.

A brief about Satadru Sovan. 

He received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship at the University of California and currently resides in New Delhi, India.

He spoke on the idea of enquiry and merger with the concepts of desire, fantasy, body, mind, global and social justice continuing action and amalgamation of South-Asian gender-dogma and sexuality.

  His work comes from global cyberspace, social networking and psychedelic, Phantasmatic visions of race and gender performative narrative.The work integrates various means of communication and artistic production using physical environments, New-media technologies, and interactive narratives that prompt public engagement, dialogue, Video, sound animation verse composition and reflection. Based on notions of geography, identity, gender roles, image appropriation, and the politics of body migration, he explores issues that affect diverse urban communities. He has attempted to showcase a segment of our society that refuses to be generalised. He used his body as a  communicative tool that utilises body, space, and action as a means of artistic expression my performative narrative .
