All necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate farmers: Nayan
Kapurthala: 4th April, 2018 (By Amrit Brar) “All necessary arrangements for purchase of wheat are in place to facilitate farmers”. This was stated by SDM Nayan Bhullar, who is also administrator of Market Committee, Kapurthala & Dhilwan. She visited the grain market of Kapurthala to take stock of the arrangements made by the administration.
She said field officers have been told to ensure smooth procurement operations. Sufficient sitting arrangement, power supply and drinking water facilities have been ensured for farmers.
Nayan Bhullar told APS Brar “Representatives of arhityas associations have been advised to educate farmers to harvest their crop only on proper maturity, and bring dry and clean crop in the mandis, so that they did not face any problem in selling their crop”.
SDM Nayan Bhullar said Punjab State Grains Procurement Corporation Limited, Punjab State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited, Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Food Corporation of India will participate in the procurement process.
The Centre has fixed the wheat MSP at Rs 1,735 per quintal. The two-month season will end on May 31, 2018.
