Modi govt running away from facing questions on farmers Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, 15 December 2020 : Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP ) state president and MP Bhagwant Mann has strongly condemned the BJP-led Central government’s decision not to convene the winter session of Parliament, saying the Modi government was trying to run away from facing questions on the current situation arising out of the enactment of three farm laws .

In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Bhagwant Mann said that the Modi government was shying away from discussing the issues of import threadbare, including the anti-farmer agriculture laws, which led to the farmers’ agitation.

He said that, instead of answering the core issues concerning the farmers, in Parliament, the Modi government  had decided not to convene the winter session citing Covid pandemic. The AAP leader on the occasion said that when the government in the saddle had to pass a legislation in Parliament for the benefit of corporate houses, it could convene a special session even during the Corona epidemic, why could’ there winter session of Parliament to discuss and debate issues relating to the farmers’ concerns, which forced them to go the road route to protect their livelihood.

Bhagwant Mann said that ever since the Modi government came to power, it had a track record of always running away from answering questions relating to the public at large, adding that it had always resorted to manoeuvres of sorts, which could cost the country heavily.

Speaking on the ground breaking ceremony of the new Parliament House recently by the Prime Minister, Mann said, “If the anti-democratic Modi government has to keep Parliament closed, then what is the point in spending Rs 1,000 crore to raise a new building?”
