MLA Pinki takes initiative to collect scattered Killers thread after Basant Panchmi

Ferozepur, January 31, 2020:  After the Basant celebrations in Ferozepur City and Cantonment, around 500 employees and workers collected the scattered leftover thread used for flying kites – known as killers’ thread on an initiative by Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA saying it should be disposed of in a scientific manner.

To collect the thread from all over the City and Cantt areas, was first of its kind initiative by the MLA accompanied by his wife, to save the lives.

Speaking on this occasion, Pinki said, He said, the Basant of Ferozepur is famous all over the world when people of Ferozepur settled far off places even on foreign lands come to Ferozepur to celebrate this Basant festival.

It is the moral responsibility and duty of all to keep the city neat and clear especially on festivals including Basant as the leftover the thread in the city and on roads lead to a number of accidents..

He also ordered the Municipal officials to dispose of the collected strings in a scientific manner.

Earlier on Basant celebrations with fervor in the city, on Thursday, MLA, DC and SSP had a round of the city with a message ‘Say No to Chines thread’ and exchanged the Chinese thread with the normal thread.

In the past, there had been a number of an incident of injuries on a speeding bike and flying birders with the use of Chinese string despite the ban by the district administration and registration of two cases for selling the banned strings.

SP Khera, Inder Singh Gogia, Diwan Chand Sukhija heading NGOs appreciated first of its kind initiative by MLA Pinki.
