EXHORT PEOPLE TO SHUN THE USE OF PLASTIC CARRY BAGS

JALANDHAR, October 26,2019:– Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) Mayor Mr Jagdish Raj Raja, MC Commissioner Mr Diprava Lakra and Jalandhar Smart City Limited Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Jitendra Jorwal on Saturday morning distributed jute bags among the people to sensitize them against use of plastic carry bags, in Old Sabji Mandi near Patel Chowk.
They underlined the need to give up the use of plastic bags, which were causing damage to the environment and switch over to alternative products like jute.
They said that these environment-friendly bags can be instrumental in eliminating the environmental problem being caused by plastic bags.
They told the need of the hour is to ensure that only these bags must be used by people to save the environment from hazardous effects of plastic in the state.
They told them that these bags do not cause any harm to the environment or human health and whereas the plastic bags do not get decomposed for several years.
They expressed hope that the active support and cooperation of the people Jalandhar would soon emerge as a clean, green, pollution and plastic-free district.
The drive was started in association with ICICI Bank Jalandhar.
Prominent among present on the occasion included MC Joint Commissioner Mr Harcharan Singh, MC Health Officer Dr Shri Krishan Sharma Mr Anuj from ICICI Bank and others.
