Chandigarh, Mar 30: In a major break-through, Haryana Police have busted an interstate gang of thieves who stole transformers and arrested four persons in this connection from Sirsa district.
Police have also recovered a number of tools used for dismantling transformers and two vehicles from their possession.
Giving this information here on Tuesday, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused were active in transformer thefts in Sirsa, Fatehabad districts as well as neighbouring states of Punjab and Rajasthan.
Arrested accused have been identified as Trilok Singh, Sukhdev Singh alias Raju, Mange Lal and Sukhvinder Singh alias Sonu, all residents of Rajasthan.
In initial investigation, the accused have confessed that they were involved in theft of 83 transformers from Dabwali, Kalanwali, Odhan and Nathusari Chopta in Sirsa, Bhattu in Fatehabad as well as neighbouring states of Punjab and Rajasthan.
After getting complaints about transformer thefts, a team of Crime Investigation Agency was entrusted with the responsibility to crack the cases. Collecting important clues, the team finally nabbed all accused.
The arrested are being interrogated and the possibility of disclosure about other incidents of thefts and other gang members cannot be ruled out. Further investigation into the case is under process.
