Horticulture department issues advisory against late blight disease in potato

Jalandhar, January 3, 2020– The Horticulture Department on Friday issued an advisory for the potato farmers against the late blight disease in potato crops.

Deputy Director Horticulture Department Naresh Kumar said that recent changes in the weather are favourable conditions of late blight disease in potato crop.

He said that the first symptoms of late blight appear as small, light to dark green, circular to irregular-shaped water-soaked marks and then these lesions expand rapidly into large, dark brown or black lesions.

Kumar also advised farmers that if they see disease symptoms in their crop, they must spray fungicides Ridomil Gold or Curzate M-8 or Sectin 60 WG 700 gm per acre or Equation Pro 200-250 ml per acre and later indofil M-45/ Antracol/ kavach -700 gm per acre and may be repeated at the interval of 10 days.
