CHANDIGARH, FEBRUARY 3,2020: Gaurav Kumar and Navya Verma moved into boys under-18 singles pre-quarters in the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today. Gaurav defeated Rakshit Dhankar in a 3 setter match 7-5, 6-7, 6-1 in boys under-18 singles 1st round today. Gaurav won the 1st set. In the 2nd set, Rakshit Dhankar came back strongly and took the set 7-6(1). Gaurav refocused and played high-level tennis in the final set. Finally, Gaurav used his experience and closed the match without getting much pressure in final set 6-1.
Another CLTA player Navya Verma outclass Arnav Bishnoi 6-1, 6-0. Arjun, Manjot Singh, Anirudh Sangra also advanced into Pre-Quarterfinals in boys under-18 singles. In the boys under-16 singles main draw 1st round Anirudh Sangra upset 8th seed Arnav Bishnoi 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets. Qualifier Darshan Dilbar Singh won from Aryan Jolly in straight sets by conceding only two-game 6-1, 6-1.
Qualifier Manpreet Kaur overplayed Simar Atwal in 3 setter marathon match. After 1st set down Manpreet took the 2nd set and match 6-2, 7-5 in the girls under-18 singles Main Draw 1st round.
Rubani Kaur Sidhu and Gurmannat Kaur Sandhu advanced into in the girls under-16 singles Pre-Quarterfinals.
