Chandigarh, June 19, 2020:As India gears up for the 6th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June, experts from the region talk about the benefits of Yoga. Yoga instructor Acharya Bajrang from Nooni Aval in Narnaul, Haryana while doing Uttanapadasana said it is beneficial for stomach-related ailments. He also said doing Chandrabhedi Pranayam for 5-10 minutes is good for those having high blood pressure. Age does not deter 85 years old Nanak Singh, retired as DSP Shimla, from practicing Yoga as he performs different Yoga Asanas daily after his morning walk. Urmila, a yoga teacher based in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh while demonstrating Mandukasana said it is beneficial for those having diabetes.

Currently, a video blogging contest ‘My Life, My Yoga’ on digital platform is being jointly organized by the Ministry of AYUSH and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) on the occasion of 6th IDY. To enter the contest, the participants are required to upload a 3 minutes duration video of 3 Yogic practices (kriya, asana, pranayama, bandha or mudra), including a short video message on how the Yogic practices have influenced their lives. The video may be uploaded on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or the MyGov platform with the contest hashtag #MyLifeMyYogaINDIA and appropriate category hashtag. Detailed guidelines for participation can be found on the Yoga Portal of the Ministry of AYUSH (https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/yoga/).
