New Delhi July 24, 2020: Delhi Government’s excise department raided a restaurant situated in Sector 7, Dwarka in a surprise inspection on Friday for illegally serving liquor during Unlock 2. During the raid, a gathering of 35-40 young boys and girls who were served liquor and Hookah was found there.
“On July 23.7.2020, acting upon the same, team of South West District, headed by SI Pawan Dahiya conducted a raid on the restaurant running in the name and style of M/s Bullet Cafe, situated at Sector 7, Dwarka, New Delhi. During the raid, a gathering of 35-40 young boys and girls who were served liquor and Hookah was found there. Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 506/20 U/S 33 Excise Act,4/20/21 COPTA act, 188/271/34 IPC, 3 Epidemic Act and 51 (b) Disaster Management Act has been registered at PS Palam Village, Delhi. Manager of the restaurant, Manish Sirohi was apprehended from the spot,” stated a press note issued by the Excise Dept of Delhi.
An FIR has been registered in this regard against the restaurant, under IPC, Epidemic Act and Disaster Management. The manager of the restaurant has been taken under arrest for flouting the guidelines issued by the Govt. prohibiting serving of liquor in restaurants, hotels, clubs, etc during Unlock 2.0.
“During Unlock 2, serving of liquor is prohibited in restaurants/clubs/hotels, etc. The Excise Department was in receipt of the information regarding serving of liquor by some of the Eating Houses/Clubs/Bars/Lounges/Commercial Establishments/restaurants in the various areas of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. On the basis of secret information all such areas were kept under the surveillance,” stated the press note issued by the Excise Dept of Delhi.
Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia also tweeted, “Excise dept raided a cafe house in Sec 7 Dwarka where illegal liquor was being served. FIR under IPC, Epidemic act and Disaster management act have been registered. Manager of the cafe has been arrested.”
Warning against such restaurants and cafes who have been flouting the guidelines set by the Govt.to be followed in the phase Unlock 2.0, the Excise Dept said, “In this context, it is also pertinent to mention here that the department has initiated a drive against such licensed/unlicensed restaurants where liquor is being served during the ongoing phase of Unlock 2. This is the third case registered against such restaurants serving liquor during the time of the last 10 days.”
