Eminent Urdu poets enthrall jawans on 47th Vijay Diwas

Giving details, Prabha Bhaskar, the Patron-in-Chief of MLB Foundation said that The function was presided over by Maj Gen Rajesh Kundra, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding Golden Arrow Division. A large number of officers, troops and their families attended the function. Eminent  Urdu poets from far-flung areas of the nation enthralled the jawans and their families with inspiring couplets for the Indian Army.

They highlighted the dedication and sacrifices of the personnel of the Armed Forces in the service of the nation.

Vijay Diwas is commemorated as it marks India’s military victory over Pakistan in 1971 during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, in alliance with Bangladesh Mukti Bahini. The end of the war also resulted in the unilateral and unconditional surrender of the Pakistan Army and subsequent secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, the chief of the Pakistani forces, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with 93,000 troops, surrendered to the allied forces consists of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, led by General Jagjit Singh Aurora, of India in the Ramna Race Course, now Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka after their defeat in the war. The anniversary of Vijay Divas is observed across India by paying tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. Afzal Manglori from Manglore, paid  special tributes to the great defenders of the territorial integrity of the nation with his poem while young poet Nadeem Shad, spellbound the audience with emotion filled couplets narrated in his melodious voice.

Meanwhile Mussaver Ferozepuri, Adil Rashid from New Delhi also received applause from the audience and later on Mohinder Ashq from Saharanour concluded the event with his poetry.

All poets were felicitated by Major General Kundra and he thanked the Mohan Lal Bhaskar Foundation for their appreciation of the personnel of the Golden Arrow Division
