
Ferozepur January 11, 2020: For the first time in the border district, RAHGIRI-2020 event – a brainchild of Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur was organized today, to provide a new level of entertainment to the people and to highlight the hidden talent among the students.
On this occasion, SDM Amit Gupta, DCM Anirudh Gupta, CEO of the Group of Schools, Red Cross Secretary Ashok Behal and Dr.Kamal Baghi.
A good number of citizens today witnessed the event was organized on Saragarhi Gurdawara road with the participation of 8 schools – Dass and Brown School, DC Model Sr.Sec. School, Don Junior School, DAV Girls School, DC Model international School, Shanti Vidya Mandir School, MLM School Sr.Sec. School and Abhinandan School.
Since the joining of Chander Gaind as Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, he has become popular as Public DC with the number of unique initiatives starting from travelling first time by DC in the train to pay floral tributes to the martyrs on March 23 last year, making specially challenged students for one-day DC and many more.
Today’s event too is his brainchild where Skating, Cycling, Cups and Baloon Game, Patriot Songs giving the message to keep the country in solidarity, paintings, Wings Selfie Point, Punjabi folk culture, Yoga, Swachh Bharat etc.
I feel immense pleasure for giving a practical shape to my concept of RAHGIRI-2020 event by the local schools on the land of martyrs. Such on-road programmes will remove the inhibitions among the students as there is no dearth of hidden talents among the students, said Chander Gaind.
After having interaction with the participants with the students at all the open booths, he said, in view of overwhelming response from the locals and cooperation of schools especially DCM Group of Schools, it is felt that this programme should continue as a regular feature which will definitely create confidence and feeling among the students to meet any challenges in life.
Langar Sewa Society Ferozepur which is doing a yeoman’s service by providing food to the patients and their attendants at civil hospital and at the bus stand and railway station on daily basis, today also provided refreshment to the participants.
Local NGOs – Shalinder, Deepak Sharma of Mayank Foundation, Rahul Kakkar MD Way Ahead Immigration Corporation, Vipul Narang, Abhishek Arora said, they have seen this event for the first time in their life which has not given an opportunity to the students to show their talents, rather entertained the locals.
